Beauty Review: Yes, OUAI!

Say good-bye to dull and frizzy hair 

My hair journey has been very long and very dry. I say “dry” because every six weeks I apply a profusion of peroxide to keep it looking fresh. This is how I justify (to my bank account and myself) adding a new hair care product into my regimen every month — and today we get to talk about my latest addition. 

As far as celebrity hair brands go, OAUI (pronounced ‘way’) stands out as a cult followed favourite endorsed by the Kardashians, and I was lucky enough to snag myself an invite from Portobello PR to their product launch party last night at one of Sydney’s chicest rooftop bars. 

The Sydney skyline wasn’t the only thing glowing; with OAUI’s aptly named Hair Gloss taking centre stage as their latest product! Cocktails and champagne coups were cutely ballet-core bowed and fabulous guests were dripped in designer, as Owner and Official Mother of Hair, Jen Atkins addressed her subjects with the ultimate reason she created this product: “We are too busy to be frizzy!” Now, she said what she said and we should feel so worthy to hear her wisdom in person. 

Going home with a goodie bag is, let’s face it, always the most exciting part of an evening and OAUI’s was gifted in a silver metallic clutch (come lunch cooler— practical and cute?). It had me calling an Uber faster than I could swallow my canapés, I simply had to put these products to the test! 

The goodie bag contained OUAI Detox Shampoo, OUAI Leave-In Conditioner, and newly launched OUAI Hair Gloss.

Here’s what I discovered:

The OAUI Detox Shampoo boasts a golden and syrupy consistency, lathering up nicely on my scalp. Formulated with detoxifying apple cider vinegar and hair straightening keratin, it clarifies, removes dirt, oil and any product buildup.

Next up was the Hair Gloss! Infused with Hyaluronic Acid and rice water, this product is a definite keeper for me. Not only does it reduce frizz but also strengthens hair and as the name suggests, adds shine! 

After rinsing, I applied the leave in conditioner which I absolutely adored. Call me converted, because this product is now a staple in my hair care routine. It left my hair smooth, detangled and silky to touch.

Having now dried my hair, I can confirm the Hair Gloss does add extra shine to your crowning glory and there is NO OUAI I’m leaving these products out of my routine from today onward.
